I'd prefer it not run a local js9server on a hardcoded port that makes it functionally impossible to use in a Kubernetes environment.

If we need a js9 lab extension, let's just write an iframe-widget-based one.

Actually looking at the code, what would you prefer it do? Submodules?

So he is adding some special files into the js9 server to make the extension work? That does seem a little funny to me, but I don't really understand how extensions are typically handled.
